Theme: The Spiritual Turtle.

Medium: Water colour and markers.

This is a Katchni style of the Godna Madhubani painting. This painting represents a turtle which is a symbol of longetivity of the earth. It also symbolises perseverance, steadfastness, protection, retreat, tranquility, healing and transformation. As we know Godna style is the older Indian madhubani style mandala art, thus representated in concentric circles symbolises concentration, time-microcosm and related to human psychology. It’is also a kind of bharni style madhubani as no empty spaces are left in the whole painting. This painting is wholesome as well as eye catching.

This is a Bharni Madhubani painting of a beautiful and rich lady with her pet cockatoos. This painting portrays the life style of rich ladies of that time- enjoying luxuries, designer clothes and jewellery; their gracefulness and down to earth nature in a unique way. On the other hand it also signifies the male dominated society and how women were kept reserved, undisclosed and non-communicative to the world.
